Now those of you that have been following Discipline or Regret since I started it back in January 11th 2008 will remember that I started it with Hydroxycut Hardcore and that sent my heart pounding and my blood pressure went into orbit and it was into the bin with them.

I started my workouts with The Abs Diet from Men’s Health Magazine’s editor-in-chief David Zinczenko, which had an awesome impact on my fat loss and it also was the catalyst in my education of diet and nutrition.  My first workouts came from the Abs diet, and then I dabbled about with Turbulence Training and Men’s Health Power Training which again they were fantastic and I made some progress. from Craig Ballantyne and

But what really sent my weight loss into overdrive and what I believe is a huge power to fat loss success is PLEASE SEND $9.99 TO ME AND I’LL TELL YOU!!! Yes I am joking!!! ha ha and I am going to tell you for FREE!!!

I teach in elementary school and I don’t see myself as a teacher, I see myself as a learner.  Let me explain about a principle that I learned as an educator/learner and I have applied it to my fat loss for success.

I teach my students with themes; I will take a theme that is; relevant, challenging and engaging.  Then before the theme starts I will meet with my students and they will look at the theme and we (the students and I) will start to ask questions what we would like to know about this topic.

We will plan the activities that the students and I will do over about 5-6 weeks, not only the learning activities but we will also plan their assessments and think of really big powerful questions that we want to know the answers to.

What this does is makes the “teacher” and “students” become co-creators of their education. The students are learners and the teacher is also a learner.  The education that the students receive has been developed by them and they love it!

They get engaged by it, challenged with it and they can’t get enough of it! Sometimes my students will ask to continue through their break.

They have taken ownership of their education!

This principle can also be applied to your (our) degree of fat loss success and whether or not you will “stick” to it or not.

I started to educate myself about nutrition and exercise, and I still am. I’m currently working towards a Personal Training certification.  I am chewing up books and researching the internet, and I found out that I was shockingly ignorant about ‘REAL’ diet and exercise knowledge.

From here I started to put guidelines and new habits together that I had to develop for a healthy eating program and I did the same with my workouts, putting together workout programs based on the latest scientific findings of exercise.

Take Ownership!

Take the bull by the horns, start here at Discipline or Regret to educate yourself about diet and exercise, I promise that you will only find healthy approaches to permanent fat loss here! I have turned down quite a few “try, review and sell” weight loss programs that I have been contacted with as I deemed them unhealthy.

It’s going to cost you time but if you invest that time it will have high returns for you and it will remove a lot of ignorance which is mainly caused by unnatural, fad diet weight loss programs.

And this is not the only benefit to educating yourself about nutrition and exercise but you will find out that all of the information that you need is freely available online and that you can successfully lose the fat with a next to nothing budget, fat loss does not need to be expensive!

I encourage you to take ownership of your fat loss efforts and your will start to see results and you should start something that you won’t stop.

  1. Educate
  2. Initiate
  3. Evaluate
