Trip to the Mountains & Bouncing Back!

That’s us back from the mountains of Tretes, well rested and well fed, and watered! Actually a bit too well fed and watered, but that’s holidays for you. Now back to reality I have to get back on track again quickly.

One of the things about achieving your fitness goals is preparing to face times like these (holidays, birthdays, weddings and other special events) and the way that I think is best is not to become a stiff miserable sod to yourself (which will affect others around you) but to loosen your belt and have those extra calories and enjoy yourself.

The key I think is the bouncing back; when the holiday (or event) is over how long does it take you to get back into your fitness and eating program?

That’s the key: Enjoy your time off, accept the weight gain and then get back into action FAST!!!

When we arrived we chilled out at the hotel for most of the day (tired from the drive there) and then we went out to a restaurant with a huge 3D stone mural on the wall.

The next day we went to the animal safari which was cool. Daniel had a real eye-opener seeing all the different animals. He went into fits of laughter when a lama came over and licked the car window.

Here are some more photos that we took on our trip to the safari;

I managed to get to the hotel gym for about 35 minutes yesterday evening, I was surprised to find the hotel had a small home-made gym which I pounded away on to burn off the beers that I had the night before.

I asked the gym attendee to take my photo with my mobile phone, but the poor lighting didn’t give a good result, but here goes anyway.

So I have no doubt put on a few pounds but I will be back in action tomorrow with a 6am grilling workout at the gym.

Great photos. Looks very exotic. Glad you had a good holiday!

I agree about holidays…you are going to eat more calories…that’s just a fact.

When we went on vacation to Jamaica, my goal was to try every day to eat right, but to understand that I was not going to be perfect. What saved me from gaining 10 pounds? Working out at least 2 hours (or so) every day while on vacation. I still gained 3 pounds, but that’s not bad for being at an all-inclusive resort where all the food is included and is available all the time.

Thanks Irene, ha ha I am going to be very pessimistic and say that I think I have gained more than 3 pounds, but it’ll be off soon and I’ll be back in action; I think it was the beer that really messed me up, if I didn’t stumble there then my gains wouldn’t have been much, but hey, on we march!

Take care,
Andrew
